It was a fine day in the Berkshires on Sunday, where we were joined by old friends and new acquaintances to celebrate the final performance of David Rousseve/REALITY’s Saudade at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Quite a few people traveled quite a distance to join us; others traveled a shorter physical distance but made the leap from not knowing MAPP, or David’s work, or even Jacob’s Pillow, to be with us for the day. With its mix of grit and poetry, earthy stories and exuberant dance, Saudade provoked some challenging conversations among our guests. We feel it’s essential to keep these conversations going about contemporary art and life, and to have the chance to delve into the ideas and process behind an artist’s work with others.
We really enjoyed sharing the day with our wonderful Board members and their friends, and having the chance to introduce a bit of our history and mission to the assembled guests in Olivia Georgia & Steve Oakes’ beautiful yard. And it was a great pleasure to toast David and his amazing dancers after the show! Lots of pictures of the day on view here. And more events to come soon…
